Lament for Markerbored

Happy Subterranean Holidays to you all, world.  This is the last true Markerbored, begun in June and completed six months after Pat moved out.  Fans of the site and whiteboards will realize what a severe blow this is to Markerbored's continued success.  Subsequent whiteboard jams will be melancholy affairs at best, since brief visits are the only way to really work it out.  But just so you know, faithful fans, Markerbored's not dead, oh no siree!

Alright, enough of my crying.  Enjoy that nerdfest.

She Sells Seashells by the Seashore

Hot weather's messing with our markers, so we messed back! Cool off with an ocean breeze, babies.

Edit: forgot to link to Dan for the boredgames playing boardgames.

Double-Sized Special! 72 Pulse-Pounding Pages!

Can Captain America, Lego Man, and a pair of giraffes possibly prevail? Can Roommate Megan, despite the proven ineffectuality of her Mii-inspired inflatable decoys, ever hope to escape the clutches of Keystone's most feared law enforcement officials, known to the criminal underworld only as...the Fuzz?

For our faithful readers, we've included a double-page gatefold lenticular hologram of two, count 'em TWO images, only one of which is new, sort of smushed together.
You won't wanna miss next issue!

Our Sado-Masochistic Relationship

Well, I hoped beyond all hope it wouldn't come down to this, but here's one from the end of November. Certain collaborators have not been carrying certain collaborative weights lately. Certain other collaborators, having become weary of verbally punishing said first collaborators, started enforcing visual punishments by filling up our current board with Keystone Kops. Apparently, verbal punishment worked better, 'cause this board ain't even close to being finished!

Also, that's my parents' house Todd's old man is blowing up.

A Cluttered Desk Indicates a Cluttered Mind

Ah yes, I remember when I discovered the tantalizing bounty of Malaysia. It was on my third trans-Pacific yachting trip with my second wife and our duck. Such fair skies, gentle breezes, doting women and rugged men in those climes...Why, I didn't know if I could ever be satisfied at home again.

And I'm Freeeeeee as a Biiirrrrrrrd

Today we're trying a new labeling system, because we always run out of room in the labels. This should also create more overlap in labels between posts. So, if something's a reference to a specific work, we name the work. If the reference is to a myth or legend, we're broadly naming where from. Superheroes and supervillains only get to be as specific as DC or Marvel.

April Fool! Why would we do something as pedantic and annoying as that? But really, actually we are.

Whiteboard, As Seen From Above

Why the Care Bears, of all people, chose to project an image of Pat molesting other people's girlfriends into the sky, I'll never know.

Manhandled-Megan by Megan, butterfly (on the right) by Caitlin.

Founding Fathers

This is it: the original. Our first backsy-forthsy, takesy-turnsy, callsy-responsey dry erase board. And it shows. Still, I'm not embarrassed. This is the internet after all, and I've seen worse. Graffiti and Casey Jones by Dan, more graffiti and a cat-or-a-rabbit by Jen. Even more graffiti by Caitlin. It's from November, 2006.

Galactus Never Learned to Ice Skate

When I was little, I once managed to convince my parents to take me to Sesame Street on Ice. They probably still resent me for it.

Modus operandi interruptus

Here we have a board from last December, one that we were feeling pretty confident about; space was established early, multi-directional motion. Then Jen came and censored everything, putting clothes on all our naked tribes-persons and throwing cats or cat-like things everywhere and giving Jesus a pottymouth.

I like to think our whiteboard is a bit more exclusive now.

Showdown at the Angkor Corral

See, when you draw a cowboy, he's usually in a desert. And then when your roommate eventually draws the Katamari Prince rolling a tumbleweed, it's generally an indication that this is definitely the desert. So then, when you draw Odeko rolling a pangolin, you feel confident that we are, in fact, in the desert. And then your roommate goes and draws a giant Cambodian head and suddenly we're in the jungle.

An Underwater Extravaganza

This one started with disaster: a diver running away. It was later revealed that he was running from a mermaid. Then things got ratcheted up, with drownings, swallowings, a snailhag, the Titanic, Atlantis, etc.

Volcanoes in the top-left of these things is all my fault. It's for extra over the top-ness. I'm sorry. Also, an interesting note: look at how differently Todd and I draw octopuses (my octopus monster on the previous board, and his Beatles octopus on this one).

Deities v. Mario, Pandas

Started out holiday-themed, became world-mythology themed. I hope all the Quetzalcoatl worshipers don't take offense to their sky god rampaging through a city.

Also, it's terrible when the black pen runs out. The Eye of Sauron in blue? Sigh.

Testing 1, 2, 3, Testes, Check, Check, Testes, 1...

This is the only picture on my computer. It's from April/May, 2007. I drew the upside-down springtime, Todd drew the hummingbird, and Aleks drew the fart hearts.
